3D printed sculpture
seppe de roo (°1994) is a visual artist based in Brussels, Belgium.
His work crystallises a new aesthetic language with a strong art historical framework, combining painting, video and sculpture with digital techniques like RayTracing, neural networks and 3D printing. His works are precise and emphasise the equilibrium of abstract elements like light, color, form, and texture.
The human and "being" are depicted in otherworldly landscapes where solitary figures, personas, roam, forming the core of the diverse stories told through scenography. These works are mirroring narratives of the unconscious world, the inner workings of the individual, and the mysteries of the world that we observe.
seppe’s multidisciplinary works have an epic, mystical, transcendent and timeless character. They capture a time that exists in the past or the future. Meaning is formed from narrative and aesthetics embedded within the figuration, with the collective unconscious and archetypes as their origins. The resulting works reflect both individual and collective human experience.
Within his artistic practice he holistically integrates a pedagogic element through his ‘equilibrium’ method and a curatorial approach. de roo has exhibited his work primarly in self-curated group exhibitions, allowing him to expand the themes within his own works with selected contemporaries, while creating unique scenographic atmospheres akin to a cohesive art installation.
de roo is a master graduate in painting from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp.
